In 1976, residents of Prince Edward Island received the new plate shown above. The plates came with a painted green, black and navy blue painted backs.


1976 Prince Edward Island replacement plate. When a plate needed replacing, Prince Edward Island residents were given this plate and stick on numbers to add to it.


1973 plates with 1975 expiry were allowed to be used through the first quarter of 1976.

These 1976 stickers were used on heavy truck plates for quarterly registations. They were affized to the large dark blue embossed square on the left hand side of the plate.

1976 Prince Edward Island Farm Use License Plate. The plate on the right is a replacement version of the farm plate.



1977 Prince Edward Island Cabinet Minister's license plate on 1976 base. According to the ALPCA archive, the 1976 used plates would have 1976 in the serial number. The year date without a number after it would have belonged to the Premier. Plates with numbers after the dash of 0 through 9 would have belonged to Cabinet Ministers.
