Current (April 2008) Euro style New South Wales license plate

Image sent by John O. Perez of Wichita, Kansas

New South Wales Centenary of Federation plate first issued in April 2001.
According to Leo Hasler, NPCC#1107, "This is the 'standard' optional plate issued by New South Wales for the Centenary of Australian Federation in 2001. Originally, 1000 plates were allocated to COF 000 to COF 999. This issue proved so popular that many thousands were sold. Other prefixes were used related to the centenary theme. These include CTY (Centenary), CFA (Centenary Federation of Australia, FED (Federation), FDN (Federation). This base was also available during 2001 as an optional personalised (vanity) base. These plates were in the XX nnn format and are slightly shorter than standard Aussie plates. Motorists could also elect to have their standard issue plates remade onto this base."

The plate on the right is an example of New South Wales auctioned plate.

New South Wales and Victoria 2001 windshield stickers brought to you by Jim Palmer of Richmond, Texas

Government bus plates received the Share the Spirit plates shortly before the Olympics in Sydney. This was in July of 2000. You would only see these plates the government busses.. The 003 plate is an extremely rare version of the government bus plate. The New South Wales government bought out a private operator whose bus fleet maintained a limited number of 3 digit bus plate numbers. These were remade in the Olympic plate style, and most are now gone.

These two plates are the front and rear Olympic slimline plates issued in 2000. The front and rear use different sizes and dies.
