More fake license plates from car shows used on restored
cars. Both plates never existed.
The one on the left is flat rather than embossed and the serial configuration
is wrong.
The plate on the right also has a wrong serial configuration and plate layout.
As Danny Beard of Woodinville, Washington,
who sent these pictures from a 2001 British car show in Bellevue, Washington
noted,"I can't believe someone who owns a car worth around a million dollars
can't spend a little time or money to get a real set of plates, which would
certainly look a lot better."
Yup, these are pretty pathetic attempts at historic reproduction.
One also has to wonder how these were approved as Year of Manufacture plates
by the Washington State Department of Motor Vehicles?
These plates were seen on restored cars at the Edmonds, Washington
car show on 9/7/02.
The first one never existed in 1933.
Plates for that year were white on green. The color is wrong, and the serial
dies are wrong.
The bottom plate is a trailer plate restored with the wrong colors.
Passenger car plates in Washington did not exist with a 1946 date. Windshield
stickers were used. To top it off, trailer plates were green on white.
