Various Washington Collector Vehicle and Horseless Carriage plates seen in use May 30, 2005 at the Everett, Washington Car Show.

Except for the 1930 Washington plate, all of these Washington State registered Year of Manufacture plates were painted the wrong color.
Mostly it was done to match the cars color scheme.
Even the 1930 Washington plate has a white background that is too white for the era.
These plates were seen on cars at the Everett, Washington Car Show on May 30, 2005

Here are fake 1939 and 1958 Washington plates used as Year of Manufacture license plates.
The 1939 is the wrong size and the 1958 even has a fake expiration sticker.
The plates were seen in use at the Everett, Washington Car Show on May 30, 2005.
Below is Washington repainted 1950 license plate with a 1952 tab that was placed on a passenger car. 1952 tabs did not exist for passenger cars.
They were updated with 1952 windshield stickers.
In fact, there were no metal 52 tabs issued for non passenger plates of which I am aware.

A 1957 Washington dealer plate repainted chrome on orange to match a collector car.
The plate and metal tab never really existed in 1957.
The correct colors would have been white on dark, forest green for both the plate and metal tab.

1936 repainted Washington plate used on collector vehicle. The color of the blue should be a dark, cobalt blue.

1948 Washington plate that really never existed, used as a Year of Manufacture plate for a collector vehicle.
1948 vehicles received a windshield sitcker to go with their 1947 plates.
This is essentially a fantasy issue registered by the Washington DOL with a King County code.
